Description

This is a supernova remnant, which means it's the structure resulting from the explosion of a star at the end of its life cycle. The Spaghetti Nebula is also known as Simeis 147 (or Sh2-240) and is located over 3,000 light-years away, sprawling across 150 light-years in diameter!

Intensity Profile: Plotting the intensity across a section of the nebula to show variations in brightness, which may correlate with density.

Color Distribution: Creating a histogram to show the distribution of colors within the image, which may give insights into the composition and temperature variations.

The pseudo-3D surface plot uses the grayscale intensity values of the nebula image as a height map, creating a 3D representation of the nebula's structure. The x and y axes correspond to the pixel coordinates of the image, and the z-axis represents the intensity of each pixel, giving the illusion of depth and form.

The color mapping, from purple to yellow, indicates the intensity of the nebula's features, with higher regions depicted in warmer colors. This representation provides a way to visually explore the nebula's complex morphology, highlighting the denser and brighter regions in a form that resembles a topographical map.
