Description

I added this to the Astro bloopers group because I completely failed to capture the RGB data for this beautiful cluster. I set out with my Meade DSI III pro to capture a LRGB image only to find that the old RGB filters that I have do not fit my filter drawer and have the wrong thread size (clearly something that Meade used in the past)…  not very exciting in monochrome

M35 (NGC 2168) is 2,158 LY away in Gemini, the ‘companion’ cluster NGC 2158 is about 11,000 LY away - they are re thought to be about 2 billion years old. A colour image would show the beautiful golden stars of this older cluster!

A second hand Baader RGB CCD filter set is on the way 😊 They’ve arrived! The final version an LRGB composite as per Rev. All good apart from the blue filter which has been rehoused in a larger (older) Baader cell, which does not fit my Altair filter slide. Grrrr.
