Description

This is M 57 and it is located in the constellation  Lyra. There are many ways to process this object especially if your goal is to see the extremely fain outer layer but I chose a straight forward, no tricks approach which also shows the adjacent small galaxy PGC 2813669 that apparently has no known magnitude. There are approximately 6 extremely dim galaxies in this image field. To bring this into view would require some major processing rendering the image inaccurate, in my opinion. Of course this is all artistic rendering anyway so I guess it becomes a matter of personal preference.

After posting I went back into Photoshop and zoomed in to 200% and the image holds up well at that surprisingly. But I started scanning the background and found several dozen minute galaxies that TSX doesn't identify and that may be because on my settings limiting such ids. Or the calalogs I use don't go that deep. Hopefully I'll remember to ask the Bisque Brothers about this while at NEAIC in mid April, actually 4/18-4/19 with NEAIC following on the weekend in Suffern, NY.
