I am Italian, from Rome, living in The Netherlands since 2003. I fell in love with space since I was 6 years old by looking at an astronomy book of my father and seeing the pictures of Jupiter and Saturn from the Pioneer spacecrafts and as well the surface of Mars from the Viking Lander. I've got my first telescope when I was 12, a Konus 114mm Newtonian on an Equatorial mount with handles. I remember watching Jupiter, Saturn and the Moon and wondering how could I possibly take pictures of them, it was 1987.
Then, after a few years, puberty hit me and all the things related to Astronomy and Space were put aside, until 2013...
I was watching the movie Apollo 13 and I thought: "It would be nice to have a Space Simulator that allows you to redo this mission". I looked around and discovered "Orbiter 2010", a realistic space flight simulator. It was a total madness, I was completely hooked by it. I asked myself: "why am I so hooked by it?" and the answer was simple "because I still love space more than anything else".
I started looking for a telescope and discovered that it was possible to take picture of planets without requiring a perfect location (I had a balcony at the time). So I went all in, bought a CGEM-DX mount with a C11, a mono camera, a manual filter wheel and an LRGB Baader filter set. I did Planetary Imaging from that balcony for four years and then, in 2017, I moved to an house with backyard. I started deep sky imaging, at first with a semi permanent setup and now I've recently built an Observatory.
