I have a day job as an atmospheric scientist and university professor. At night, I study the "Other Side of the Sky," reaching out of the blue and into the black.
An avid observer as a teenager, I forgot about this hobby until a few years ago when my kids were the right age to learn about the cosmos. Now we observe from the very dark skies (Bortle 2) of our cabin near treeline in the Medicine Bow Mountains of Wyoming, where our Galaxy dominates the night.
Still climbing the learning curves, I image from the dark cabin using a small refractor, and from my back yard in the suburbs.
