RGB for annotation was captured during about 30 min .
Main image is SHO and has combines SHO SNR of 40.

Processing:
RGB are combined.
Cropping for Ha, O3, S2 and RGB
DBE for O3, S2 and RGB. This step is critical to avoid subtracting nebulosity. Hence, this step was not applied for Ha.
Color Colib for RGB
Blur and Noise XT for Ha, O3, S2 and RGB
Star XT for RGB. RGB stars were kept.

Manual stretching (with HT) for Ha, O3, S2, RGB (no stars), and RGB-stars (two different stretching)
Stretched RGB-stars were saved as two files (more and lesser stretched). Brighter and more stretched stars were added to RGB image, dimmer and lesser stretched stars were added to SHO.

RGB no stars were masked by Lum.
Local Histogram Equalization: Kernel radius of 40 and 150
Multiscale-median transform for sharpness; strong 0.4-0.5 setting.
Curves: brightness is manipulated
Mask off.
Added RGB stars (brighter version of stars).

Stretched again.
Star XT. These stars were discarded.
Played with Hue-Saturation until final image.
Lum for SHO was used as mask.
Local Histogram Equalization: Kernel radius of 40, 150 and then 300 (histogram resolution is 10-bit!)
Multiscale-median transform for sharpness; strong 0.4 setting.
Curves: saturation and brightness are manipulated
Blue was separately manipulating using "blue mask".
Mask off.
Added RGB stars (dimmer version of stars).

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
