Description

NGC 3718 is a spiral galaxy around 52 million light years distant in the constellation of Ursa Major. The arms of the galaxy appear distorted - this is likley due to gravitational interaction with NGC 3729, another spiral galaxy that is around 150,000 light years from NGC 3718. The unusual appearance of NGC 3718 no doubt led to its inclusion as object number 214 in Arp's Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies.

NGC 3718 was photographed between 10 and 27 May 2020 from a rig in Spain that is privately owned and operated by Barry Wilson and me.
