Description

This is the second time I have imaged NGC 300. The first time was using my hyperstar and QHY 178C. I was not particularly happy  with my first attempt as I over exposed the small pixels of the QHY 178C. Very easy to do at F2. My first attempt was a combination of osc and dual band filter to capture the HA regions of the galaxy. It didn't really work very well.
This image was done at a higher focal length of 1650mm and at F7. This gives me more resolution then I had with the Hyperstar at 525mm. Using my QHY 268M and binning at 2x2 has given me a much better pixel scale and full well depth then I could get with my 178C.

NGC 300 (also known as Caldwell 70) is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. It is one of the closest galaxies to the Local Group, and probably lies between the latter and the Sculptor Group. It is the brightest of the five main spirals in the direction of the Sculptor Group. It is inclined at an angle of 42° when viewed from Earth and shares many characteristics of the Triangulum Galaxy.
