I used the first clear nights of the summer season to image a faint supernova remnant in Cygnus - the G082.2+05.3.
Actually the data gathering started in May when I managed to get a mere 3 hours on the target. I quickly processed the data back then and was excited to find that the SNR was visible. Its not easy to build a significant amount of material during the shortest nights of the year so after two more nights in June I decided to stop and process.
Processing was fun. I explored the whole star field with pleasure. I am imaging with a color camera and I am glad that I was able to capture this remnant from the comfort of my home under the city lights. The major OIII curves of the SNR are clearly visible while the HA background is full of details.
Exploring the star filed I found two more objects:
- NGC 6884 - an extremely small planetary nebula with a size of 0.1". In my image it is looking as a halo around a star which caught my interest. In fact it has interesting structures but they can be seen in the images from HST -
