Description

Here's my obligatory blue super moon shot from my North Dallas back yard last night. I have a planetary/visual rig comprising my old Celestron EdgeHD 100 and a William Optics GuideStar 61 (GS61) on top of it. I have an ASI6200MC plugged into the GS61 and use that to plate solve to my targets for visual use and planetary photography. But every now and then, I take a picture with that little scope. Last night, my wife were sitting in the back yard, checking out the blue moon through the eyepiece while drinking a couple of Blue Moons and it occurred to me that I could probably get a decent shot of it with the GS61.

So I just took 60 0.00005s shots, combined them into an AVI with PIPP and stacked them with AutoStakkert!. Post-processing was very simple. I brought it into PixInsight, applied one round of BlurXTerminator to it with the default settings, and then sent it over to Photoshop and applied Topaz Studio Precision Contrast. I also added a slight blue tint because, well, why not?
