Description

10.2 Magnitude Comet C/2023 E1 (ATLAS) has just past perihelion on July 1st and will still get twice as close to Earth on August 18, 2023.  This image stacks almost two hours of integration time as this comet is at declination of around 80 degrees N.  I've attempted to "go deep" and bring out the faint plasma tail, in so doing the IFN in and around Ursa Minor makes the field messy.

I used the color calibration method found here to make the comet as "true" to color as possible although the saturation has been exploited somewhat.  As usual I like to post an inverted color image as my initial post under revisions.  Check it out since it highlights some of the fainter details as well as galaxies in the area.

I'm also using a new scope here since my dark mountain skies seem to be okay with the added aperture and fast F#.
