Description

Spring 2023 LRGB exposures (27/28 May) of galaxy M101 with new Supernova SN2023ixf, discovered on 19 May 2023. Supernova SN2023ixf is a Type II supernova, an explosion that occurs after a massive star runs out of nuclear fuel and collapses.  The Supernova is located on the outer spiral arm at about 21 hours, very close to the H-II region NGC 5461.
