Description

NGC 281, The Pacman Nebula located in Cassiopeia.

I spent a lot of time researching and looking at images of this object to decide approach on capture of data. As this is an HII emission nebula, the first thought with an OSC was to go for really highlighting the surrounding nebula using the LeNhance to capture Ha. I decided that this was too difficult under my skies with an OSC. Elected to really focus on the star field as it was really quite interesting with the foreground star of 24 Cas which is actually a binary star system as well as the broader star field with varying coloured stars. I had in mind to get over 20 hrs of data but as the field of view was quite large felt this was unneccessary - actually its more there is no good weather for the foreseeable future.

I have learned quite a few new tricks but what I had realised is that I was introducing artefacts, so have played a lot with trying to reduce artefacts.

Thanks for looking.
