Description

Messier 100, one of the first spiral galaxies discovered. And all the fuzzy smudges are even more galaxies.

Preprocessing
1. WeightedBatchProcessing
2. DrizzleIntegration with Region of Interest that crops to preview
3. Dynamic Background Extraction on all filters

L
1. StarXTerminator on linear image, keeping stars
2. EZ Decon (I had to be tricky here, taking a PSF from the L image with stars, and a “star mask” of a completely black image)
3. NoiseXterminator
4. Arcsinh Stretch to stretch image
5. Histogram Transformation on L_stars to stretch, though not as stretched as starless
6. PixelMath “L_stars + $T” to bring back stars

RGB
1. ChannelCombination
2. ImageSolver script
3. Photometric Color Calibration
4. EZ Soft Stretch
5 Convolution to 3.0 StdDev
6. LRGB Combination to apply L, with 0.3 saturation
7. Repeat LRGB Combination, with Color Noise Reduction
8. Create a mask using an earlier version of the starless L, stretched to the extreme
9. Using this mask, apply CurvesTransformation to color balance galaxy
10. SCNR on the background, with inverted mask
