Description

Why is a starry-looking speck so exciting to me?
Because...
. it is a hyperluminous, broad-absorption-line, radio-loud quasar and Lyman-alpha blob.
 - - You might want to Google some of those terms.
. it possesses one of the most massive black holes ever found, at 40 billion solar masses.
 - - M87 is 'only' 5 billion solar masses.
. its luminosity is 140 trillion times the brightness of our sun.
  - - Imagine just doubling or tripling the brightness of our sun.
. the Ton 618 photons that my camera sensor captured took 10.8 billion years to get here.

The brighter galaxy in the lower left is NGC 4414.
