Description

A rarely looked upon compact (3’ x 4’) NGC 1914 nebula with embedded star association [1] located near the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) with an elaborate and complex internal structure. The nebula appears to have two dim diffuse arms extending asymmetrically up to 10’ from the center. A small circular structure of about 11’’ in diameter is also visible at about 3.5’ distance from the center of NGC 1914 on the top right side, which could be an unrelated (more distant?) planetary nebula.

The “Labyrinth” name is proposed due to the seahorse shape dark nebula revealed on the inside. Only its brightest core feature (which is about 1.5’ across) is identified in DSS2 and other surveys [2, 3], missing the details on the periphery. The way how this object may be connected with other diffuse objects found nearby [4] is to be studied further.

Title: Mapping the scene onto the Spitzer IRAC4 survey data [5-10], reveling the extended structure of the nebula

Description: Links to resources are given under the original image revision description. The balance between T1 image overlay and the background image is set to 50/50 here. The extended arm in the upper left side of the nebula visible in T1 image overlay is matching closely the structures visible in IR.

Title: Mapping the scene onto the Spitzer IRAC4 survey data [5-10], reveling the extended structure of the nebula

Description: Links to resources are given under the original image revision description. The balance between T1 image overlay and the background image is shifted 80% to the T1 overlay here. The structure on the lower right from the nebula visible in IR is matching the hints of background structure visible in the same area of the T1 image.
