IC 1805 - Heart Nebula

Description

The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) is a large emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia, situated approximately 7,500 light-years from Earth. The human heart shape is formed from a combination of hydrogen gas emission and dark dust lanes.

I really like the versatility of this area of the sky and the ‘picture in picture’ aspect, with Mellotte 15 in the centre of the heart and the Fishead Nebula in the bottom right corner, both on my future targets list to image with a longer focal length scope.
