Description

IC 10 is an irregular starburst galaxy. The red regions of star formation are clear within the galaxy. It  located around 2.2 million light years from Earth. It is part of the Local Group and possibly part of the M31 subgroup as it is about the same distance from M31 as is M33.

It was discovered in 1887 by the American astronomer Louis Swift [1,2].
