Description

This image was taken with all kinds of challenges (mostly self-induced). We were actually planning on taking an image of the Blue Horse Head Nebula, but since we left home both the battery and counter weights, we were not able to mount our normal imaging scope in EQ mode. Instead, we decided to make due with what we had. We converted the Orion Sirius mount from EQ mode to AZ mode to not have to use counter weights. We found an image that a normal camera could take with 50mm focal lenght which was Rho Ophiuchi. We were experimenting with settings a bit and found that at 15 second exposures, the stars were still point-like. Our plan was to take 2 hours worth of 15 second exposures. Then, the clouds moved in after a bit over an hour.

This object will benefit from much longer exposure times. On a different occasion, we will need to repeat this with more and perhaps longer subs in EQ mode.
