Description

NGC3206 and SN 2024bch
On Jan 29, 2024 Patrick Wiggins of Salt Lake, Utah discovered this super nova in NGC3206. It is his 9th Super Nova discovery.
NGC3206 is a small 2.3 x 1.2 arc mins and 12 mag galaxy in Ursa Major. It looks like it has had a interaction with some other galaxy in its past.
Here is Patrick's image from his discovery and a RGB image I took of NGC3206 and SN a few days later. The nova is the star next to the galaxy's core.
Patrick's image is a five second exposures taken with an SBIG ST-10 imager through a clear filter with a 35cm Celestron telescope operating at f/5.5.
My RGB image is 9 hours long taken with a Planewave CDK20 and FLI16803 ccd
