Description

I observed this object on 14 November 2015 at the General Nathan Twining Observatory in New Mexico using as 12” Skywatcher Dobsonian. I obtained the calibrated lights frames used to create the final image from Telescope Live. The frames were imaged by the CHI-1-CCD Telescope at the El Sauce Observatory.

NGC 288 is a large and fairly bright globular cluster that was easy to spot. I call it Class VII since it shows little brightening towards the center. It could be Class IX or X though.

Shapley Sawyer Classification: X
Distance: 28,706 LY
Type: Halo Globular
Position w.r.t. core of galaxy: Almost directly below the sun.
Any stars resolved: No
Undergoing Core Collapse: No
