Description

In the constellation Auriga, you can find the impressive Flaming Star Nebula, also known as IC 405 (C31 / SH2-229 / LBN 795). It is a nebula that exhibits both emission and reflection (VdB 34) characteristics. This nebula is caused by the presence of the massive blue giant star of spectral type O, AE Aurigae. Besides creating a significant reflection zone around it, as it can be seen in the image, this star ionizes a vast region with its electromagnetic radiation, primarily emitting in Ha, with an apparent magnitude of 6.To capture this image, the equipment used is a TS Hypergraph 8" f3.2 telescope, a ZWO ASI 294MM Pro camera, and Antlia V Pro 3nm (SHO) filters. The mount used was a Skywatcher Eq6-r-Pro, along with an OAG+QHY5L-M. The software utilized for this project included Sequence Generator Pro, PHD2, Pixinsight, and Adobe Photoshop. The image itself is a composition with a binning factor of 1, in a mosaic of 2 panels, each comprising SHO data acquired in 2 sets of (3x30x300s) exposures, resulting in a total exposure time of 15 hours.
