Description

With the lack of many nebulae in the Spring, I was excited to image the Owl Nebula and its nearby neighbor, the Surfboard Galaxy. These two objects are located in Ursa Major and are 2030, and 28 million lightyears away respectively. The Owl Nebula is a Planetary Nebula with a faint shell of Oiii gas which is present in the image if you look carefully. The Surfboard Galaxy appears from Earth to its side, giving it a long and thin appearance.

This image is ~1.5h Oiii and ~4h LRGB for a total of 5.5h of data.
Optical Specifications: 714mm f/7 (1.1"/pix)
