Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a magnitude 12.5 spiral galaxy located 90 million light years away in the constellation of Virgo at a declination of 0 degrees.  It spans 3.5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 90,000 light years.

The disk appears to us about halfway between face-on and edge-on.  Although a pair of spiral arms extend out form the core, their path is short lived and most of the disk is mottled.  Numerous blue star clouds are seen in the upper left half of the disk, while curiously none are seen in the lower right half of the disk.
