Description

The Eagle Nebula, also known as Messier 16 or M16. It’s the location of several famous structures, including the stunning Pillars of Creation, a star-forming region, depicted centrally the image. Taken from my back garden between 9 and 16 June 2023 comprising 9.5 hours of exposure. Very low to the south which has some sky glow and not particularly good seeing, and run out of luck with the weather so didn't manage to capture my target hours of Sii. I captured this simultaneously alongside my previous published wide field image. The longer focal length here certainly provides more impact for this target, and don't we all aspire to get near that infamous HST Pillars of Creation image? We can only dream!
