Description

M 17 is distant 17 thousands light years from us and shines thanks to an embedded open cluster formed by about 35 stars made by material of the nebula.

This view used the HST pallet to map the captures of Ha, O3 and S2 in green, blue and red, respectively.

As we can see, there are areas with all three materials mixed, but most of the nebula is formed by Ha.

The stackup for this image is:

Ha, S2 and O3: 7x20m for each channel

Bias, darks and Flats applied.

Pre-Processing and Post-Processing in PixInsight

** Re-processing: I captured a couple of extra subs what allowed me to push some more details of the shock wave present, in addition to do a post-processing less agressive. I hope you enjoy the new image. **

*** A Note on Image_Rev-C: A new color mapping has been used, as well as, some contrast and sharpening has been pushed using multi-dimensional processing.

When you are going to see this image, choose Full Resolution from the drop box on the upper right corner of the image's frame. I think It's worth that view.

Please fell free to drop a line of comment about this new release, even for saying that you don't like it.

**** A Note on =REV-D= A new reprocessing has been done using some new resources of PI. Also a new new white balance has been introduced, aiming to eliminate false colors and artfacts present in previous versions. I hope you like this new version.

Thank you
