Description

Sh2-224 is a supernova remnant and has faint Ha intensity. I decided to give it a try with Ha in my first attempt . It paired well with another target I was acquiring and despite a cloudy December here in the Valley, I managed a few good nights of data acquisition. This was an interesting workflow to get the RGB stars matched to the Ha image that was used both to enhance RGB and as a separate luminance channel. Blur and StarXterminator  were most useful in making this happen and GHS was essential to get good initial stretches and then stretch starless images to create intensity and color contrasts. I could have pushed up some more of the faint Ha, but that really needed more exposure time to develop good contrast. I moved on from this target for now, but perhaps with a taste of this faint target, I will come back one day and add more integration time for Ha and also add the OIII that I know is hanging out in the area.
