Description

This is a region with multiple domes difficult to see, the only dome really visible in this photo is Petavius P1, others indicated by the circles can not be seen directly.

Dome Longitude Latitude Diameter [km] Heigth [m] Slope [°]

Petavius 1 60.40 ° -26.80 ° 19.8 ± 0.5 240 ± 25 1.4 ± 0.2

Petavius 1, with its moderate slope of 1.4° ± 0.2°, large diameter of 19.8 km ± 0.5 km, large edifice volume of 19 cubic km, belongs to class C1 of the effusive lunar domes. The dome formed out of lava of moderate viscosity and over a period of time of 1.4 years. Views under high solar elevation angles reveal two dark regions on the crater floor, which are interpreted as pyroclastic deposits (LPDs). Possibly this region has undergone an effusive and a subsequent explosive phase of volcanism.
