The return of the Pleiades

Description

Welcome back, sisters.

The Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters or M45, is the most viewable open star cluster with the naked eye. This cluster contains hot, middle-aged B-type stars, which are very luminous and blue. It is estimated that these stars have formed within the last 100 million years. The nine brightest stars of the Pleiades are named for the Seven Sisters of Greek mythology: Sterope, Merope, Electra, Maia, Taygeta, Celaeno, and Alcyone, along with their parents Atlas and Pleione.
