Description

I am trying to show here, that it is possible to image deep space objects with a Celestron Nexstar mount (a Goto Alt Az) despite the general concensus that goto Alt Az mounts are useless for deep space imaging. It is certainly not ideal but what I am trying to show here is that it is not THAT bad! For those that own a Goto Alt Az, give it a go. DSS will correct the field rotatation issue that Alt Az mounts have. the lower the imaging object's declination, the higher the exposure you can go.

This was 15 frames of 26 second exposures at ISO 6400.

Now this was taken reasonably dark skies in Brecon Beacon, Wales. But I will be adding some other images I had taken of nebulas and clusters in heavily light polluted London.

As a double experiment, I am also testing how much difference adding dark frames make. This is with dark frames stacked. I will be uploading the same image but stacked without dark frames for comparison.
