Until recently, I hadn't yet paid much attention to this target. But when it stood out in
my extreme widefield shot, I became intrigued.
This was my third target in a late night of imaging. After collecting more data on the
Witch Head Nebula, and my first set of data on the
Rosette Nebula for the year, I pointed the scope at the Beehive Cluster, plate solved to get her good and center, and let her rip. Unfortunately, I forgot to reset the high gain exposure settings after the plate solve. As a result, the stars are all bloated and over saturated. I was still able to draw out some color from the edges of the stars, though.
Would like to have another go at properly exposing this target. For now, I think it's still worth sharing as it highlights my current ability, and can serve as a benchmark for future efforts. The
Original version consists of just under 2hrs total integration time.
