Description

This data was collected in desperation before a big winter storm arrived. About one hour of data was collected under cold, dark moonless skies with only marginal transparency. The rest of the data (maybe 2/3) was collected with the moon above the horizon. Needless to say, the moon really screwed up the background and the colors so after stacking it all together, so I had to work pretty hard to produce a reasonable rendition of the color. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result. This is a very cool object. I particularly like the little galaxy that appeared in the far lower right. After cropping, this is about 90% of the full 24 x 36 mm frame.

Update: I've never been very happy with the way that I originally processed this data so I took another swing at it with PixInsight. The noise is much more under control and the colors in this latest revision (E) are more accurate. I think that it looks better but I'm always happy to hear C&C.
