Description

A nice galaxy in Leo often overlooked because of M65 & M66 stealing the show. It lies 23 million light years distant. There are bubble like shells of material surrounding it which are caused by interaction with smaller nearby galaxies. this image was taken over three nights in the Panamint Valley in the Western Mojave Desert in March 2013. Details: AstroTech AT6RC; Atik 314 L; Atik EFW; Orion EQ-G mount; TS Off axis guider; Astrodon E Series LRGB filters; Exposure: 10.5 hours Luminance; 1 hour each of RGB.
