Description

SH2-261 is an HII region about 3,200ly away on the outer edge of the Orion Arm in the galactic region between that and the Perseus Arm. Often overlooked because of the many spectacular objects in the area, this object is easily detected with modest amateur imaging gear since it has strong H-alpha emission.
