Description

NGC 4631, aka Whale Galaxy, is an edge-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Canes Venatici. This galaxy's slightly distorted wedge shape gives it the appearance of a Whale. The galaxy is about 30 million light years from Earth. Its apparent dimensions measures 15.5 X 2.7 and its apparent magnitude is listed at 9.8. The companion galaxy, or the "pup", is NGC 4627.

Revision C is a framing I've been playing with in Photoshop CS4.

Revision D is a Vibrance and Saturation boost of the galaxy in Photoshop.

Revision E is annotated using PixInsight. It left out a couple of the larger galaxies in the background. If someone can tell me what I need to do to include those please let me know.
