Description

I observed 2023 Perseid Meteor Shower at Cottonwood Visitor Center of the Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California on Aug 12-13. This park is a popular observing site for Amateur Astronomy and Stargazing. I did not know there are so many Stargazers in Los Angeles area and they caused a traffic jam to get into the park. I arrived at the visitor center at 12:30 AM midnight.
After quick setup for my ASI 178MC camera with a Fish Eye lens, I checked my laptop screen and saw some bright stars with passing clouds – no meteors. NOT promising. But I decided to let go with the 2 sec exposures to capture meteors for an hour before heading back to home. There were still many cars moving around the park with headlights on until 3 AM in the morning

At home, I scanned the 1240 frames with PixInsight Blink module and I saw 9 meteors out of the 1240 frames. It was enough to see the Radiant of the Perseids.
