The supernova 2024gy (yellow arrow) was discovered on 01/04/24 by Katsumi Yoshimoto. This image from Telescope Live is based on data just  posted today.

Interestingly, the area around the supernova appears broader than the areas around other stars…could this be an already expanding hot envelope?
