It has been only 100 million years that stars from this wonderful open cluster start to shine. Located in the constellation Taurus, it can be viewed with the naked eye, being 391 to 456 light-years away from us. It is a nebula that reflects the light of the bright stars that compose it. It is now known that the star cluster just passes through a region of the galaxy that contains this cloud of gas that appears here in blue by reflection of the supermassive stars in the cluster. This is a modest attempt at imaging with a different set of exposure times and composing 15m50s of integration time acquired in July 2023 with 200mm f/2 astrograph with HaHbOIII filter.

Localizado na constelação de Touro, pode ser visualizado a olhos nus, estando apenas entre 391a 456 anos-luz de distância de nós. É uma nebulosa que reflete a luz das estrelas brilhantes que a compõem. Sabe-se agora que o aglomerado estelar está apenas passando por uma região da galáxia que contem essa nuvem de gás que aparece aqui em azul por reflexo das estrelas supermassivas do aglomerado. Esta é uma modesta tentativa de imagem com um conjunto diferente de tempos de exposição e compondo 15m50s de tempo de integração adquirida em julho de 2023 com astrógrafo de 200mm f/2 com filtro HaHbOIII.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
