Description

The Flaming Star Nebula (IC405, Caldwell 31, Sharpless 229) is an emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga north of the celestial equator, surrounding the bluish, irregular variable star AE Aurigae. It resides in the Milky Way 1,500 light-years from earth with a radius of 2.5 light-years.
