Description

M20 - The Trifid Nebula

So, I got to test my new Stellarvue SV80 last night, and it worked out really well!

The Trifid Nebula is an area in Sagittarius that combines several different types of features. The pinkish-red area is an emission nebula (due to hot gas and hydrogen atoms), the blue is a reflection nebula (due to reflections of nearby starlight), and the dark areas that appear to break the Trifid up are dark nebula (dust)

It lives about 5200 light years away!
