Description

M16, the Eagle Nebula. Located in the constellation Sagittarius, it contains the famous object known as the 'pillars of creation' that was discovered by the Hubble Space Telescope. It's moniker is derived from the shape of the object and its numerous star-forming regions. It is about 7,000-ly from Earth. Sadly, the 'pillars of creation' have most likely already been destroyed by a supernova.
