Description

This three degree wide astro image contains a slew of interesting objects.  On the left side is Sh2-157, the Lobster Claw Nebula, an emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia.  A ring nebula Sh2-157a and a Wolf-Rayet star WR157 reside within the lobster claw and an open cluster NGC 7510 can be seen just below the lower claw.  Nearby is the Bubble Nebula NGC 7635 (in the upper right quadrant) with its striking clear, round shape.  In the upper right corner is the open star cluster M52.  NGC 7538 (in the lower right quadrant) is home to the biggest yet discovered protostar, estimated to be 300 times the size of our solar system.  Sh2-159 is a small HII region located centrally among its prominent neighbors and beautiful in its own right, but sadly must feel like it is included in the photograph only because it lies so close to these photogenic targets.
