Description

I’ve been testing the William Optic Redcat 51mm APO refractor so far with the full frame QHY128C one shot color CMOS, but I decided to fit the QHY16200A providing us with an ultra wide field multi filter Monochrome CCD camera.

It figures we have been clouded out for most of the nights since I fitted the QHY16200 on the Redcat and all I have so far on the test subject (Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae) is some H-Alpha data, after doing a quick search I found some unprocessed data of the M8 M20 region using the QHY128C before I swapped over cameras so for the first time ever I registered and combined the data from a CMOS camera with a CCD using the QHY16200 CCD Ha data with the color data from the QHY128C full frame CMOS for some pleasing results seen here against an immense backdrop of dust in the Sagittarius region of the milky way.

I was very impressed with the SNR and high level of detail obtained with only 14 x 10 minute exposures in H-Alpha using the Redcat (see H-Alpha crop).

The combination of the Redcat and QHY16200A gives a whopping 6.2 x 5.0 degree field of view and an image scale of 4.95 arcsec/pix.
