Description

o3cont.jpg
(Oiii continuum^)

Hidden along the edges of the dark ridges of the Small Sagittarius Star Cloud, there are the remains of a very violent supernova. The Eastern component of this supernova remnant was known about for some time, however, this Western portion of the remnant was unknown until I discovered the region in some early surveys conducted in the Summer of 2022.

This image is a high resolution follow-up of the nebula with the 16" RCOS from SRO. This thing is actually surprisingly bright at f/9. I decided against doing Ha of this image because I know there is not a ton of small scale Ha structure here, especially compared to the Oiii. Ha would only serve to turn the background red which I thought may be visually distracting.

Hope you enjoy the image!
