Description

After seeing some nice images of the Iris Nebula here on Astrobin from light polluted skies, I decided to give it a try.  With my setup (listed in details) I captured data over the nights of October 18, 19 and 23.  The QHY268c camera was set to high gain mode (mode 1) 0 gain 20 offset.  I managed 450 images at 2 minutes each.  This was my first real imaging attempt with my newly acquired FSQ-85ED with Flattener.  I also used my RST-135E mount for it first real imaging (up until now I was just using it to run gear tests, getting settings dialed in and really just learning its quirks and strong points).  All in all, I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.  There is some minor tilt and possible backspacing issues to be worked out in the imaging train, but it is getting closer.  Obviously a lot of data to combat the light pollution is needed, but I feel my processing has improved as well.  I have been slowly working through Adam Block’s Pixinsight tutorials, so very helpful.  Baby steps, baby steps and someday bigger steps!
