Description

5-panel hydrogen-alpha mosaic of the region from the Heart Nebula through Queen Cassiopeia. It could have been done in four, but I messed up the rotation of one of the panels and had to shoot a "filler" panel. This was done with my mono-converted Canon 60D, Rokinon 135mm f/2 lens, iExos-100 mount, and Astronomik 6-nm H-a clip filter.

The 60D has a decent amount of banding, which led to a truly messed up workflow. Each panel was stacked in APP with gradients removed, then into PixInsight for a pass of the Canon Banding Removal script. Then into StarTools for deconvolution, back to APP for the mosaic, and then finished in PixInsight. Although I did bring the star layer back into StarTools to try to repair the stars (they get really wonky in the corners with the filter). Finally did a bit of an artistic touch in GIMP to add a blur to the bright stars in Cassiopeia to try to show the constellation a bit more clearly among the extended nebulosity.

Hope you like it! Maybe I can get OIII data next season.
