Description

A made a second attempt at Elephant's Trunk, because I love seeing my progress :-) My wife says this doesn't look like an elephant at all, but a woman walking into the mist. I like that image much better!

Processing Steps, excluding all the trial and error:

1. WeightedBatchProcessing, Subframe Selector, Image Registration, Local Normalization, Image Integration, Drizzle Integration, Dynamic Crop

2. EZ Denoise

3. Arcsinh Stretch (on Ha) and EZ Soft Stretch (on OIII & SII)

4. StarNet++ to move stars to a separate image (stretched separately, Morphological Transformation to reduce sizes, then combined with PixelMath and set aside)

5. Clone Stamp on OIII and SII to clean up artifacts (cheating!)

6. PixelMath to combine as SHO

7. SCNR to reduce the green bias

8. Duplicate Ha to use for Luminance, then adjust with Curves and Histogram Transformation

9. LRGB Combination to apply L to the RGB image

10. Extract Wavelet Layers to find the layer with the remaining noise (white speckles), and use HT to brighten this. Use this image of noise as a mask on RGB, and then use Curves Transformation to reduce L.

11. Curves Transformation to make the colors slightly more pleasing

12. Unsharp Mask using a mask that applies the sharpening to just the brightest parts

13. Add stars back with PixelMath: 1-((1-RGB) * (1-star_mask))
