The spiral arms have a low surface brightness but several knotty condensations as well as small discrete dust patches are visible. This galaxy was recorded by William Herschel on 13 september 1784 and noted as "very faint". NGC925 is located 30 mly. away and has an angular diameter of 10.5'x5.9'. Its diameter is estimated to 90000 ly. (Source: "The complete guide to the Herschel objects", Mark Bratton, Cambridge University Press)
