Description

this is the first picture i've got out of the Edge i'm ever happy with. Only took a year of fooling around. The oversampling is real, the stars are all blobs (my imaging train was 0.35"x0.35" per pixel according to astronomy.tools). Also I should have used a LP filter or a UV/IR cut with the camera, but forgot. (that UV bloats stars further)

This is 30x5minutes = 2.5hours from my driveway.

Asi183MC Pro OSC

Celestron AVX

Celestron EdgeHd 8

0.7x reducer

Moonlite focuser w/ Zwo EAF

Celestron OAG with 290mm Zwo guidecam

AsiAir Pro -> platesolve, guiding, control

pretty decent amount of processing in PixInsight and Photoshop

For some reason, my PI workflow doesnt seem to calibrate the Ampglow out anymore. Tried a bunch of stuff, and it's still gnarly. So just cropped it.

This was also the first time i actually used my second mount, a the Celestron AVX, for Astro photography.

Even though there's stiction and the RA doesnt seem to rotate freely much, i was able to get 0.6" guiding on it !!!! actually was guiding better then my Rasa on EQ6R Pro same evening.

It was hard to find stars in the OAG, and a lot of diffraction/blurriness on the few i found. Didnt seem to affect guiding, but feel like i need to tune that further. The 290mm seems to have rather small pixels for this
