Description

Messier 108 (also known as NGC 3556, nicknamed the Surfboard Galaxy) is a barred spiral galaxy about 28 million light-years away from Earth in the northernconstellationUrsa Major. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1781 or 1782.=10.5px  From the Earth, this galaxy is seen almost edge-on.

On 13 March 2023, a supernova appeared in this galaxy: SN 2023dbc (Type Ic, mag. 17).* I have posted the approximate location on the hover image.

I am unable to confirm the supernova in my image but it is possible that it is delineated at the arrow.
